About Me & Rhona
My name is Melissa Bradshaw, and I’m a professional graphic artist and writer in Arlington, TX. I’ve owned horses for more than 20 years, but this is my first serious attempt at horse training. I adopted Rhona in June 2006, and this blog tells the story of our life together.
Rhona is a 10-year-old half-Clydesdale mare. (I’m guessing the other half is Appaloosa due to the small white spots on her rump.) She’s bay with four white socks and a blaze. She’s fairly short (15.2h) for a draft cross, but she’s very stout, and most of her tack has to be special-ordered. (For example, she requires a 46-inch cinch. The largest carried in stores is 36-inch. Thank goodness for eBay!) Rhona has a very sweet, outgoing nature and absolutely loves being around other horses. She tends to be a little on the dominant side, though, probably because she’s the largest horse in her current herd.

Hi Melissa,
We are awaiting the arrival of our pregnant PMU mare tomorrow as she makes her way from Alberta to northern California. I appreciate your blog and hopefully will have experiences of my own to share!
Thanks for sharing and for advocating for these wonderful horses!
